artsinitiates-zimbabwe turns one on May 2 with a great dream of launching a weekly arts and culture magazine as well as radio station.

In the past twelve months, artsinitiates-zimbabwe that runs this website has achieved so much and proven to be the premier arts and culture website not only for those in Zimbabwe today but even for many in the diaspora.

Besides signing an agreement with a Germany organisation lyrikline.org, artsinitiates has also entered into a publishing agreement with Lion Press, a company founded by a Zimbabwean in the UK for running a short story competition that will see the publishing of an anthology next December.

On its own, artsinitiates has so far published four monograms (small anthologies). The works published nwas featured on the site in the last 12 months and it caters for people who do not have access to the internet.

So far those published are University lecturer Memory Chirere who is the 2008 Nama award winner in the category of children's books, US-based Zimbabwean Emmanuel Sigauke who has also an establsihed writer, another UZ lecturer in Ndebele languages Jerry Zondo and Richmore Tera.

In the pipeline are works by Tinashe Muchuri and Ignatias Mabasa another Nama winner.

But artsinitiates' big dream of launching a weekly arts and culture magazine as well as a radio station is at hand and applications for licences will be made soon.
